Unable to rally from the injuries received when stuck by an automobile, John H. Janssen, 75, Meyer Hotel, died at the Proctor Hospital at 5:20 o'clock Wednesday morning.
The body was taken to the Wilton Mortuary. Corener W. B. Elliott will conduct an inquest.
Janssen was stuck by a machine driven by Theodore White, 1600 Block Howett St., as the aged man was crossing Maple Street and South Jefferson Ave. the evening of April 20. An arm and a leg were fractured and internal injuries suffered. At first it was believed he would recover, and the shock of the accident combined with advanced age, lost the battle for his life.
Born in Essen, Germany, January 19, 1853, Mr. Janssen came to the United States when he was 25 years old. He and Miss Johanna Altmann were married 25 years ago in Peoria. Mr. Janssen had been a resident of the City for __ years.
